ABOUT

I’m Olivia, a Production and Costume Designer, academic researcher and visual artist.

Based in the North West of England, I have 10+ years’ experience in practice-based and academic research within the arts.

I have worked extensively in music video and short film, including numerous BFI and Arts Council England backed shorts. My production and costume design work has been screened at numerous BAFTA and BIFA accredited film festivals including Clermont-Ferrand, Aesthetica, Bolton and Norwich.

Originally from a Fine Art background, my knowledge of both the history and theory of art heavily inform my approach to visual language within film. I also have specialist skills in print and animation.

I am also a PhD candidate at Manchester School of Art. Prior to this I underwent my MA in Print at the Royal College of Art and BA at the University of Oxford.

I have previously been published in the Journal for Artistic Research and have exhibited both nationally and internationally. My research topic centres on the use of my own methodology, Line, a mimetic, performative process of drawing and writing that involves the creation of fluid and interdependent text-image forms and visual poetry. It is a vehicle to act out the rhythms of OCD, anxiety, rage, compulsion, humour and play.
